We’re not sure if there’s much audience crossover between Alejandro G. Inarritu’s Birdman and PBS’ Sesame Street, but that didn’t stop the people at the Sesame Workshop from making the parody we all know needed to happen.

Posted by Mashable’s The Watercooler, the parody finds Caroll Spinney, 81, wondering about how he could still be playing Big Bird after all these years. He’s the only person ever to play the lovable giant bird, taking the role in 1969. Just like Riggan (Michael Keaton) in Birdman, he thinks that it’s about time he moves on from his most famous role.

The video was put together just like the film, so clever editing makes it look like it really was made all in one take. Of course, Big Bird can’t fly, so they couldn’t quite remake the entire film.

In the end though, it’s clear that Spinney still enjoys being Big Bird and bringing smiles to children.

Birdman is up for nine Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director. The Oscars are on Sunday. Hopefully by then, there’s a Sesame Street Whiplash parody with Oscar the Grouch as the music teacher.
