With seven enthralling seasons of Sons of Anarchy, behind us as of December, producer Kurt Sutter is bringing his creative mind and macabre story lines to a new series, ‘The Bastard Executioner.”
The new FX historical drama will begin filming in March, reports the International Business Times.
If you follow Sutter closely on Instagram, you might’ve seen some pictures of the Caerphilly Castle in Wales, where Sutter is presently on the look-out for new filming locations.
The drama will focus on a knight who decides to part with King Edward III’s army after enduring the ruthlessness of war. Instead, violence awaits him just around the corner, forcing the knight to pursue the role of an executioner.
It’s still uncertain who the troubled knight will be, but SOA followers will be pleased to know that the fan-favorite ‘old lady’ and Sutter’s wife, Katey Sagal, will be featured in one way or another. Although there aren’t any specific details of Sagal’s television return, it’s confirmed that Sutter and Paris Barclay will work together once more to write and produce the pilot episode.
Parallel to themes in SOA, The Bastard Executioner will have a deep Shakespearean inspiration within story lines.
"When I'm not writing, I don't quite know who I am," Sutter told Rolling Stone
