Telenovela actress Lorena Rojas has lost her long battle with cancer at the age of 44. She died in Miami, Florida, on Monday after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008.
Rojas’ talent agency, Latin WE, confirmed the tragic news in a statement.
The statement read she “took her last breath peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of her family, her boyfriend and her closest friends."
Rojas was a Mexican soap star, a film actress and a singer. She counts telenovelas like El Cuerpo del Deseo, Pecados Ajenos and Alcanzar Una Estrella and films like Corazones Rotos among her work.
E! Online reports she also made the children’s music album Hijos del Sol, which was inspired by her daughter Luciana.
She had “defeated the disease at different stages” since getting diagnosed seven years ago, but last year it spread to her liver.
