This is such an interesting time of year: Friday the 13th followed by Valentine’s Day. It seems everywhere I look there’s either monsters or hearts. I’m not sure which I like better.
Fortunately, here at TheCelebrityCafe.com, we have a little something for everyone. If you’re all about hearts, then we have lots for you from pick-up lines to mood music, romantic movies, ideas for the perfect gift, meanings of the word love, and even meanings of the word bae.
If, however, you aren’t much for the touchy feely things in life, we have heart crushing, dead walking, and psycho slashing stories as well. Fans of Once Upon a Time’s darker side will enjoy watching clip after clip of hearts being ripped from chests and crushed. For those of you who really dig the Friday the 13th series of films, we ranked all twelve of them. Fitting for a list of zombie-fied songs, we also have info on the latest Walking Dead episode.
This list takes a look at hit songs throughout the decades, and how they might differ if they had been about zombies. It’s become a popular trend with Twitter users to change song titles or lyrics to fit a theme, and this is no different. These are the top ten #ZombieSongs, each accompanied by a video of the original hit, and there’s a bonus at the end. Enjoy!

I like big guts…
A spoof of the early ‘90s hit “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot, this zombie song highlights the fact that zombies eat body parts and they don’t die. Instead of “I like big butts, and I cannot lie,” the zombies sing, “I like big guts, and I cannot die!”
Here’s the original Six Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back”

If I could turn back Grimes
This is a tribute to Rick Grimes, the main character in the TV series The Walking Dead. As the leader of a group of living humans seeking to stay alive during the zombie apocalypse, Grimes has to make tough decisions; decisions that at times have made him turn to the dark side, so to speak. “If I Could Turn Back Grimes” hints at this loss of humanity. It is based on Cher’s hit “If I Could Turn Back Time.”
Here’s the original Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time.”

I wanna dance with zombody
Another spoof, “I wann dance with zombody” references the hit pop song “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston. I have to admit, it’s pretty funny to imagine zombies trying to dance like that (“Thriller,” yes; "The Clone," no!)
Here’s the original Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.”

Everybody needs somebody to eat
Well, it is true that every zombie needs somebody or body part to eat. This is a zombie twist on the classic “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love,” which was performed by several iconic figures, including the Rolling Stones, Solomon Burke, Wilson Pickett, and of course, the Blues Brothers!
Here’s the original Wilson Pickett’s “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love.”
And just for you Blues Brothers fans out there…

I will survive (the zombie apocalypse)
There are quite a few people who will tell you that the zombie apocalypse is no joke, and they’re prepared. This song is for them! “I Will Survive (The Zombie Apocalypse)” is a zombie version of Gloria Gaynor’s girl power disco hit “I Will Survive.”
Here’s the original Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.”

Braindrops keep fallin’ off my head
I don’t think there’s many people who haven’t heard the 1969 classic “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” by B.J. Thomas, which was written for the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I’m also pretty sure that most people are familiar with the horrific image of decomposing zombies that have their innards showing. “Braindrops Keep Fallin’ off My Head” conjures just such an image!
Here’s the original B.J. Thomas’ “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head.”

You’ve lost that livin’ feelin’
Well, I suppose if you’re dead, and it’s difficult to move your body, and all you can think about is finding somebody to munch that you probably don’t have a “living” feeling. It could also be what you feel like saying to someone you loved that has been turned into a zombie. “You’ve Lost That Livin’ Feelin’” harkens back to the 1960s classic “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” by the Righteous Brothers, though most people now probably know it from the movie Top Gun.
Here’s the original Righteous Brothers’ “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’.”
And for the Top Gun fans out there…

I could walk 5 undead miles
“I could walk 5 undead miles” is the zombie-fied version of the song “I’m Gonna Be (500 miles)” by the Scottish pop/rock duo The Proclaimers. The chorus of the song includes the lyrics “I would walk five hundred miles.” So, for the walking dead, I suppose you could say they walk “undead” miles.
Here’s the original “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers.

Don’t go down to the Zombie City
“Paradise City” is the Guns N’ Roses rock anthem from the late 1980s. The song’s catchy tune and memorable chorus “Take me down to the Paradise City, where the grass is green, and the girls are pretty,” evidently lend themselves to zombie-fication rather easily, since this Twitter user cleverly changed it up to “Don’t go down to the Zombie City, where the girls are dead, and they ain’t real pretty!”
Here’s the original Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City.”

I wanna gnaw your hand
I don’t suppose you could have a really good list of songs without including something by The Beatles. “I Want to Hold Your Hand” is a pop/rock classic from their earlier days. However, the zombies would rather sing “I Wanna Gnaw Your Hand.” You know...since they aren’t much into love, and they eat body parts.
Here’s the original “I Want to Hold Your Hand” by the Beatles.

Walk like a zombie man
I did not see this one listed among the many #ZombieSong tweets, but it seemed so appropriate that I had to include it. So, here’s my contribution: take The Bangles’ hit song “Walk Like an Egyptian,” and change it to “Walk Like a Zombie Man.”
Here’s the original “Walk Like an Egyptian” by The Bangles.
