Ric questioned Michael on the stand at the court house. He accused Michael of being a liar and a bad parent. "You want revenge," he suggested. Sonny nods. Ric then pushed Michael to admit that he was trying to punish Sonny, but Michael insisted that Sonny was a murderer so Ric accused him of being a hypocrite. Michael was then forced to tell the story of Claudia's killing. Ric then pointed out that Michael had no blood ties to baby Avery and then talked about how heroic and self-sacrificing Sonny had been recently. Alexis wanted to start her questioning, but the judge decided to adjourn for the day.

At Shadybrooke, Franco told Nina that he was faking being crazy, like she was. He then added that he only pretended to go insane because of the LSD. She responded by slapping him for being a “dirty rat.” Franco insisted that he wasn't lying, that he was just doing performance art and it was “super boss.” She then reminded him of all the things they had said to each other and accused him of being a fraud. Nina then explained that she threw away her freedom to come back to him. Franco insisted that he only lied so he could be with her because they “were more than pals.” Then, they kissed. She then reminded him they still had to get out of Shadybrooke.

Julian was outside of Kelly's telling someone on the phone that Carlos was lucky not to be dead. Then, Carlos interrupted him and told him that he was free until his trial. Julian then threw him against the wall and threatened to make him answer for offing Ava. Carlos explained that he only shot her in the shoulder. They then rehashed what happened with Luke and Carlos asked him to let bygones be bygones. He then reminded Julian of how many times he had tried to kill Ava in the past. Now she was gone and they could over take Port Charles. They shook on it.

In the New York hospital, Silas warned Ava that returning to Port Charles would mean going to prison. He left as she refused to abandon her daughter. Ava watched the custody hearing coverage on her tablet. She saw an interview with Carly and her baby daughter. Ava then grumbled that she would be damned if she let Avery think Carly was her mom. She then tried to sneak out, but fell on the floor. Then, Silas returned. Ava wanted to talk to Julian. Silas told her that she couldn’t, but she remained determined and railed that she wouldn't let Carly win. Ava then told Silas how sure was she was that he going to dump her in jail once she was healed. Silas replied by reminding her that he loved her once and he still cared. "I've got your back," he promised.

At GH, Elizabeth admitted to Jake/Jason that she had feelings for him. She then shut the door to his room and admitted that she didn't just turn off her feelings for him when Ric returned. He wanted confirmation that she was offering him another shot. Then, Sloane interrupted them. When Elizabeth walked out, Nikolas called her from Boston. He told her that he was scared for Spencer.

Meanwhile, Sloane told Jake/Jason that they were dropping the charges against him. Jake/Jason wondered what the catch was. Sloane wanted him to go undercover with the Jeromes as an informer so Sloane could take them down. Then, Elizabeth returned, warning that Obrecht was on her way. Sloane then left.

Morgan and Sonny headed to Kelly's to discuss the case. Sonny doubted Michael would drop it. Morgan then justified why he wanted to take baby Avery to Ava's memorial. Eventually, Sonny agreed to let him.

Carly strolls into GH and found a cop asking Jake/Jason why he hadn't jumped on Sloane's offer. Once the cop left, Carly started quizzing Jake/Jason. When he claimed that he couldn't tell her anything, she badgered him until he caved and told her about Sloane's offer. Carly forbid him to go along with it and promised that Diane could get him acquitted, he insisted on taking the deal to clean up his own mess. She thought that was a terrible decision, but said she would support him. Once she left, he called the guard in and asked to see Sloane.

Julian cornered Michael at the court house and asked why he should have custody. Michael replied that he would offer baby Avery a safe environment, which neither Sonny nor Julian could provide. Julian then went into the court room to see Alexis. They discussed Ava's memorial. Julian left after Ric strolled in. Ric then told Michael to drop his case, accused him of being a “petulant bully” and suggested that he save his relationship with his parents. Michael didn’t appreciate the lecture about family especially coming from him.

Back out in the hall, Julian and Sonny discussed Ava's memorial. Sonny insisted that he did all he could to save her. Julian thanked him and then explained that the Jeromes were going back into operation. "Is this a declaration of war?" Sonny asked. They then bickered and Sonny vowed to “break him.” He entered the court as Alexis dragged Michael across the room and warned him that they needed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Sonny wasn’t a safe parent. Besides that, she was worried that he would permanently alienate himself from his family. She then urged him to call the custody suit off. He refused to do so. Then, Carly came in and got an update from Sonny. Court was then called to session. Judge Walters was now presiding. Michael smirked as Alexis asked him what he had done.

Sam showed up at the Shriners Hospital in Boston. When Nikolas got off the phone, he updated Sam on Spencer's treatment. They then began discussing Helena and Jake/Jason. She talked about how she never got a chance to say goodbye to Jason. "There's something I need to tell you," he replied.
At Ryan's Bar in New York, Kiki was impressed by everything her grandma Delia did for the memorial ceremony. Delia wondered why Morgan wasn't there. Kiki assured her that he was on the way... and so was Julian.

At the hospital in New York, Ava thanked Silas for all of his help. She worried that he may have changed his mind about turning her in, but he said that he hadn't. Ava then rehashed about Michael saving her from Sonny and then worried about her daughter. She then moved on to worrying about Kiki. It broke her heart to think of her grieving. Kiki then called Silas and told him that the memorial was happening in New York. Ava listened to the call and wept. She asked Silas to say something nice about her at the service. When he left the room, she heard his phone buzz. Ava crawled across the floor to it and saw a message stating that baby Avery would be at the service.

Julian arrived at Ryan's Bar followed by Morgan and the baby. Then, Silas show up. He was surprised to see Avery there. Meanwhile, Ava lurked outside the bar and looked in through the window.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Tracy was stuck watching Danny, who Monica had dropped off with her in order to make sure she couldn’t go to Luke’s arraignment. Ned believed Monica did her a favor. Tracy then commented that she liked spending time with Danny and said that soon they would have another little one in the house. Ned was stunned that she knew that Olivia was pregnant, but Tracy was talking about Avery. Tracy couldn’t believe that he had knocked up “another fishwife from Bensonhurst.” Later, they discussed Michael’s custody suit. Ned didn’t think Michael stood a chance, but then Tracy revealed that she overheard Monica pressuring her boyfriend, Judge Walters, to take over the case. Tracy thought that the odds were now in Michael’s favor. Ned replied that there was something poetic about Monica engineering this revenge on Sonny. Tracy then said that she wished that Alan was there to see the house full of kids again. Ned added that it would also be nice to have AJ and Jason there too.

At Kelly’s, Olivia told Dante that she was pregnant and said Ned was the father. Olivia assured Dante that Ned had been there for her and stepped up to the plate.

At Shriners Hospital, Sam apologized to Nikolas for going on and on about Jason while he was dealing with Spencer’s treatment. Nikolas was about to tell Sam the truth about Jake/Jason when a nurse interrupts them and said that the doctor needed to speak with him about Spencer, whose blood pressure suddenly dropped, but the doctors managed to correct the problem.

At GH, Sloane laid out the charges against Jake/Jason and what he was facing. He said the DA would bring no charges against him if he worked undercover for them to bring down Julian. Jake/Jason agreed to Sloane’s offer. Then, Elizabeth walked in on them and asked what was going on. Sloane replied that he came to tell Jake/Jason that he was free thanks to Helena’s testimony. Later, Sam arrived and learned from Elizabeth that Jake/Jason was a free man. Sam added that Nikolas had his hands full right now with Spencer, so he couldn’t be of much help to them in finding out who Jake/Jason really was.

Ava’s memorial was held at Ryan’s Bar in New York. Ava stood outside the window as she listened to Julian, Kiki, Delia, Silas and Morgan speak about her. She ended up in tears after hearing Morgan profess that he would always love her. Julian headed out after the service concluded, and Silas told Kiki that he needed to get back to his patient. Kiki then asked Delia to watch baby Avery while she and Morgan took a walk. Delia then sang "Oh Danny Boy" to the baby as it was a song that always cheered her up. Later, Ava revealed herself to her mother as Delia cleaned up the bar.

In court, Judge Walters took over baby Avery’s custody case, as the former judge was called away. Alexis realized Michael orchestrated this, but he played innocent. The judge decided that he needed to hear from Sonny before making a ruling. Sonny then took the stand and Alexis grilled him about the past and all the dangers his children had befallen because of him. She then brought up Carly being shot while giving birth to Morgan, Morgan being sent to military school by Carly to protect him and Michael being shot at Sonny’s warehouse. Sonny replied that all he could do was promise to do better by Avery. Sonny then added that the only reason they were here was because Michael was angry and wanted to punish him and the best way to hurt him was to take his children away. Sonny then spoke directly to Michael and told him that he would love him until the day he died, just as he loved all his children and he begged him to stop this for Avery’s sake. Walters then called a recess and said that he would return with a decision. Alexis then asked Michael if he wanted to stop the suit. Meanwhile, Carly realized why the judge looked familiar.

At the court house, Ric, Sonny and Carly discussed Walters taking over as judge and worried that Monica could be behind it. Ric then confronted Michael about it and Sonny started bickering with him. "Good luck trying to prove it," Michael challenged. The court was then called back into session. Ric requested the judge recuse himself for conflict of interest, bur Walters pointed out that Ric had conflicts of interest with everyone involved in the case. He then ruled in Michael’s favor. Sonny leapt up and declared that this was all about revenge. Walter ordered Sonny to inform them of baby Avery’s whereabouts. Sonny claimed Avery was at his place. Court was then dismissed. Alexis then warned Michael that he had started down a slippery slope. Sonny whispered to Carly that he was keeping Avery in New York until he found a way out of this.

At Shadybrooke, Franco and Nina played up their lunacy acts for another patient. Nina barked at her until she ran out of the room. Once alone, they started pondering their plan to get out. Then, Nathan and Dante brought in a heavily bound Luke in. Nina ran up to her brother. When he mentioned what happened to Scott, Franco perked up, but had to crank up his crazy act when he seemed a little too lucid. After the cops left, Franco started ranting about what had happened to his father. He then headed down the hall to see Luke and walked straight into his room. "My name is Franco Baldwin. You hurt my father. Prepare to die," Franco said.

Reporters chased Tracy around GH until security escorted them out. Lulu then caught her up concerning Scott. She thought Scott should have been expecting the attack. Lulu then said that she had never seen her father act so violently. "It couldn't have happened to a nicer person," Tracy replied.
Meanwhile, Bobbie went in to see Scott. He wasn’t happy that Luke bit his ear off. "Just the tip of it," she pointed out. She hoped that he could now see that Luke wasn't well.

Silas returned to the hospital in New York and noticed that Ava had snuck out.

Ava crept around Ryan's Bar and shocked her mom by revealing herself. Delia thought she was hallucinating at first, but was soon hugging her daughter. Ava then picked up Avery. Delia needed an explanation. When Ava mentioned how Silas saved her, he suddenly appeared. Delia then lectured him for letting the memorial happen when he knew Ava was alive. Ava then apologized for making them both accomplices. Delia wasn't happy that Ava was pretending to be dead, but agreed to keep it quiet. When Ava tried leaving with the baby, Silas stopped her.

Maxie headed to Lulu's, telling herself that she was just going through a rough patch with Nathan. Lulu wasn't home, but Spinelli was there. She stomped in and they began bickering about him staying there. Maxie then blamed him for her relationship crisis. The topic then turned to the monster Luke had become. "He's like hateful, evil bonkers," she said. He explained that Lulu and Tracy had hired him to find out why Luke went haywire and that was searching for Patricia. They then start bickering about their possible future. She didn’t appreciate him making her party to something illegal. This turned to them recalling their past. He pushed her to admit that she still had feelings for him. He then said that was ready for them to plunge into being a family and kissed her. She reciprocated as Nathan walked in.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Tracy celebrated the outcome of the custody hearing with Michael and told him that Sonny got exactly what he deserved. Later, Alice let Tracy know that she had the house ready for the little one. Tracy said that Michael was on his way to get baby Avery and that they would also need a second nursery for Ned and Olivia’s baby. Alice was thrilled by the news, but Tracy couldn’t focus on being happy because of Luke. She then said that her only hope in figuring out what happened to Luke was “in the hands of a grade A boob.”

In Shadybrooke, Franco threatened to kill Luke and make a work of art out of his corpse for what he did to Scott. Then, Nina walked in as Franco began suffocating Luke with a pillow and she stopped him. She reminded him they had a plan to leave with one another and that a dead body would make that difficult. Luke then said that he had his own plan of escape and would take them with him if they helped him. Franco said he was listening, but Nina thought Luke was insane. Luke replied that he was in total control of his faculties and that he did what he did to avoid being sent back to prison. Luke then promised to help them disappear with his resources if they helped him get out of Shadybrooke. Nina didn’t trust him, but Franco believed this was their best chance.

At Sonny’s place, Sonny and Carly argued over what to do about Michael. Carly wanted to proceed legally and she said what Michael did was wrong, but he was a good and kind man and that he would take good care of Avery. Sonny refused to let Michael take Avery, which prompted Carly to ask what he was planning to do.

At Ryan’s bar, Silas and Delia tried to rationalize with Ava and convince her that she couldn’t take Avery, but she felt they had turned on her. Outside, Morgan and Kiki returned, but Morgan got a call from Sonny, which stopped them from going in. Sonny told him that Michael won the custody suit, so he had a chartered plane waiting at JFK to take Morgan and Avery to his private island. After the call, Kiki and Morgan went inside and found Delia with Avery. Silas and Ava were gone. They thanked Delia for watching over the baby and said they had to be going. Delia then left to clean up, and Kiki asked Morgan what the call was about. Morgan told her Michael won custody of Avery so Sonny wanted them to take Avery to his island. Kiki refused and said not only would Michael hunt them down, but it wasn’t what was best for Avery.

Nathan walked in on Spinelli and Maxie kissing at Lulu’s place. Maxie said she could explain and said that Spinelli kissed her without warning. Spinelli then shielded himself with his laptop as Nathan came at him. Spinelli then said that he didn’t feel the kiss was unwelcomed and that he was making Maxie face the past they share, one that Nathan lacked with her. As Nathan was about to hit him, Spinelli’s laptop beeped with a hit on Patricia. Spinelli thought this was what they had been waiting for, but refused to share his info with Nathan as it was Tracy not the PCPD that had hired him. Spinelli then ran out of the apartment with his laptop before Nathan could force the info out of him. Maxie then tried to change the subject and suggested they go for dinner, but Nathan replied he had lost his appetite. He then added that thought it was time they called it a day in regards to their relationship.

Back at Sonny’s place, Carly lectured Sonny, saying he wouldn’t get away with refusing to turn Avery over to Michael. Then, Michael arrived with a social worker and a court marshal to get Avery. Carly tried to reason with Michael, but he warned her that if she interfered then he would make her pay along with Sonny. The marshal and social worker then discovered that the baby wasn’t in the house, so Michael demanded they arrest Sonny.

Silas took Ava back to the hospital room she had been hiding in and lectured her on her carelessness and selfishness. Ava refused to walk away from her family and said that she had beaten the odds before, so there must be something she could do. Silas then told Ava that it wouldn’t matter if she found a way out of this because she was dying.

Back at the Quartermaine mansion, Tracy told Alice that she knew the Luke she married was still inside his body somewhere and she knew that she could reach him. Then, Spinelli arrived to speak with Tracy and he told her that he had a lead on Patricia.
