One pilot for Alaskan Airlines shocked not only his girlfriend, but the passengers aboard the flight when he decided to propose while in the middle of the air.

Pilot, Eric Greener, was hiding in the flight deck jump seat waiting until the flight was in the air to address the cabin over the intercom to share the story of how he and Brandy Hollenbeck fell in love, People notes.

At midnight the night before, Greener called all the flight attendants to let them know his plans. RieAnn Fullwood, another flight attendant and a close friend to Hollenbeck says they tried to keep her busy in the back of the plane so that she wouldn’t see her boyfriend as he was boarding.

"I happened to meet this beautiful blond flight attendant, who was sitting there … chowing down on a double cheeseburger," Greener recalled over the intercom. "All I could think, folks, was, 'My gosh, a flight attendant who has the courage to eat a cheeseburger in the terminal is a woman to know.'”

Greener continued to say, "We hit it off, I got her number and I met the woman of my dreams at 34,000 feet. So I figure it's time to continue our lives at 34,000 feet.”

Hollenbeck, who was completely surprised by the proposal, said yes, according to the official airline blog. “At one point I thought, ‘Someone up there is telling my love story!’ But I just kept serving coffee,” Hollenbeck said of the proposal.

The couple has yet to set a wedding date, but Hollenbeck has her mind set on a summer wedding.
