When it comes time to cast Ronald Reagan in season two of Fargo, FX got groovy. Bruce Campbell joined the anthology show as Dutch.
TV Line got the exclusive on Campbell playing a pre-POTUS Reagan, who, on his first campaign, makes "a swing through Fargo." Only some character have interactions with him and "some of his movies are also part of the show," John Landgraf, the CEO of FX, said months prior.
Campbell becomes the second Burn Notice alum to star in this season of Fargo, as Jeffrey Donovan also was cast on the program. Also set to join The Evil Dead star are How I Met Your Mother star Cristin Milioti, Ted Danson, Patrick Wilson, Kirsten Dunst, Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons, Nick Offerman, Brad Garrett, Michael Hogan and Jean Smart.
Set in 1979 Sioux Falls, before the events of the first season, Fargo season two follows Lou Solverson (Wilson in this season, Keith Carradine in the first), a State Police Officer as he follows the mysterious changes which come to this small-town. Milioti plays Lou's wife, Danson stars as his wife's dad and Plemons and Dunst are a husband-and-wife couple with big plans.
This is also, interestingly enough, not the first time Campbell appeared in the Fargo universe. He can be briefly seen on the kidnappers' cabin on the TV in the original 1996 film.
Fargo is just one show Campbell appears in this year, as he'll reprises his Evil Dead character Ash for Starz's Ash vs. Evil Dead, which also stars Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo. He also appears in Stay Filthy, Cali.
Campbell has some films to be released soon as well, including The Escort, Highly Functional and Welcome to Purgatory.
Fargo premieres its second season sometime this fall.
