Actor Rob Lowe and singer Tamar Braxton are celebrating their birthdays today, March 17.
Rob Lowe, 51
Film and television actor Rob Lowe turns 51 today. Lowe starred in the television film Thursday's Child in 1983. He earned a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film for his role. He later made his film debut in The Outsiders. For his role in Square Dance, Lowe earned another Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
From 1999 to 2003, Lowe played Sam Seaborn in the television series The West Wing. He earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination and two Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Actor in a Drama Series. After the series ended and after a few failed acting attempts, Lowe returned to do a few television miniseries including The Stand, Beach Girls and Salem's Lot. Lowe starred as a guest star on the ABC drama Brothers & Sisters and later joined the recurring cast.
Lowe later went on to become a series regular on the NBC mockumentary Parks and Recreation and also a recurring role on Showtime's comedy Californication. In 2014, He served as the narrator for The ’90s: The Last Great Decade? on the National Geographic Channel. Lowe is also a commercial spokesman for DirecTV and has been appearing in commercials since fall 2014.
Lowe is married to Sheryl Berkoff and the couple has two sons, Matthew Edward and John Owen.

Tamar Braxton, 38
Singer, songwriter, model, host and reality television personality Tamar Braxton turns 38 today. Braxton, youngest sister of R&B icon Toni Braxton, started her singing career with her sisters, Toni, Traci, Towanda and Trina. They released one single but disbanded afterwards. She went on to sing backup for Toni's first tour. Braxton later released the album, So Many Ways with sisters Trina, and Towanda.
Braxton released her debut album, Tamar, in 2000, but after failing to grab attention, she was dropped from her label. She went back to work alongside her sister Toni in a number of songs and music video cameos. She performed, co-wrote and provided background vocals for Toni's albums The Heat, Snowflakes, More than a Woman, Libra and Pulse.
Braxton released her second album, Love and War in 2013 under Epic Records. The album was a commercial success, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Braxton received three Grammy nominations including Best Urban Contemporary Album for Love and War, Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance for the title track "Love and War." She released her first Christmas album, Winter Loversland, that same year.
Braxton is married to record producer Vincent Herbert and have a son, Logan Vincent. The two chronicle their life through the WE television reality series Tamar & Vince. Braxton also appears on the WE reality series Braxton Family Values which chronicles the life of Tamar and her sisters as well as their mother, Evelyn.
