Actors Reese Witherspoon and William Shatner are celebrating their birthdays today, March 22.
Reese Witherspoon, 39
Actress and producer Reese Witherspoon turns 39 today. In 1991, Witherspoon made her film debut in The Man in the Moon. She earned a Young Artist Award nomination for her role. She went on to appear in a few television movies including Wildflower, Desperate Choices: To Save My Child and the CBS miniseries Return to Lonesome Dove. In 1996, she starred alongside Mark Wahlberg for the thriller Fear.
After taking a break from acting, Witherspoon returned to the big screen in 1998, starring in the films Overnight Delivery, Pleasantville and Twilight. She later gained recognition for her role in Cruel Intentions. She later earned her first Golden Globe nomination and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her role in Election.
Witherspoon gained worldwide recognition in 2001 with her role in Legally Blonde. For her role, she earned her second Golden Globe Best Actress nomination. She reprised her role for the sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. Other notable film roles include Walk the Line, Penelope, Four Christmases, Monsters vs. Aliens, Water for Elephants, This Means War and Mud.
Witherspoon produced and starred in the 2014 biographical drama film Wild. For her role, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She also served as a producer for Gone Girl. Witherspoon will star in and produce the action comedy film Hot Pursuit alongside Sofia Vergara.

William Shatner, 84
Actor, singer, author, producer, director, spokesman and comedian William Shatner turns 84 today. Shatner gained worldwide recognition for his role as James T. Kirk, Captain of the USS Enterprise, in the science fiction television series Star Trek. He reprised his role for the reboot Star Trek: The Animated Series, as well as the seven feature films. Shatner has also co-written several novels in the Star Trek universe set.
From 1982 to 1986, Shatner played the title role in the police drama T. J. Hooker. From 1989 to 1996, he hosted the television series Rescue 911, winning the People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Dramatic Series. Shatner starred in The Practice and its spin-off, Boston Legal, winning two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for the latter.
Shatner has also transitioned into music, releasing several music and spoken word albums. Shatner earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his television work. Shatner has been a spokesperson for priceline.com since the 1990s. He is now known as the Priceline negotiator in recent commercials alongside his on-screen daughter Kaley Cuoco Sweeting.
