On this week's episode of Chasing Life, April and Leo give their relationship another shot, Brenna re-connects with Greer, and Beth and Graham's plans to get an apartment together are derailed.
The episode opens with April, Leo, and the Carvers plus Beth, Natalie, and Greer in a Photo Booth at the "Private Parts" Cancer Fundraiser. In a voice-over, Leo says how the heart can be one of the most "private parts" of the body.
Time jump to two days earlier where April and Beth discuss their love lives. Beth says she's moving in with Graham and April admits she's giving Leo another chance. Both women are a bit skeptical of each other's choices, so April suggests they go on a double date and try to get to know one another's boyfriends better.
Cue opening theme.
Brenna is at dinner with Kieran and Greer at The Charles. She's frustrated that Sara is unhappy with her decision to take a year off to travel before college and seeks Kieran's advice. Greer is also seemingly better now that she's taking her anxiety meds and anti-depressants again.
Back at the Carver house, April tries to sell Leo on the idea of a double date dinner party with Beth and Graham while they kiss on April's bed. Leo seems reluctant at first, but soon agrees to please April. He also says he'll be pulling away from yoga and cancer support group in an effort to minimize all the sickness in his life, much to April's surprise.
At work, Sara is surprised by her co-worker, Owen and reiterates her desire to maintain a casual, no-strings-attached kind of relationship. He feels similarly, so it's good that they're in agreement. They make plans to meet up the following night.
Meanwhile, at The Charles, Dominic runs into Natalie and they discuss their recent encounter at his book signing. Natalie admits to reading his book, but not fully understanding it. Soon after, they get to talking about music they both like. April shows up a few moments later, interrupting the moment and she seems to recognize the attraction between the pair, even though they both claim they're "just friends." When April leaves, Natalie and Dominic attempt to convince themselves they really are "just friends," since they made out once, then swap numbers to stay more in touch.
At yoga, Julian approaches April and mentions how he's heard things are rocky between her and Leo. He invites April to the "Private Parts" Cancer Fundraiser he's helping with. He really wants Leo to emcee, but April tells him Leo's becoming a bit distant. Still, April agrees to try and get Leo to accept the gig.
Back at the Carver house, Brenna is awoken when Greer shows up during the middle of the night, asking to stay over, because of a fight with her mom. They talk in Brenna's room and share a kiss.
At Dominic and Graham's apartment, Graham and Beth squabble over where to get an apartment, then quickly reconcile.
Simultaneously, Sara gets an unexpected surprise at her office when co-worker and current squeeze, Owen's wife shows up looking for him. A little while later, Sara angrily confronts Owen and shuts down his weak apology. She's doubly angry, because she's been cheated on before.
Meanwhile, April, Leo, Beth, and Graham have their dinner double date and things get awkward when Beth starts grilling Leo. Eager to help her boyfriend, April jumps in and saves the day. She also mentions Julian's request for Leo to emcee at the "Private Parts" Cancer Fundraiser. Leo doesn't dig the idea, which complicates things for April, since she basically told Julian Leo was willing to help him. Their small disagreement further exacerbates the tension in the room.
Dominic calls Natalie while she's at work and asks her if she wants to come over to his apartment and look at some of his classic records once her shift's done. When Natalie hears April won't be there to interfere, she obliges.
Back at the Carver house, Sara arrives home only to find out that Brenna has invited Greer over. Brenna tries to approach her mother and let her know she took Greer in, before she finds out for herself, but Sara doesn't give her the chance. And when Sara learns that Greer stayed the night, she's less than thrilled. Greer and Brenna try to plead with Sara to let Greer continue to stay over until things get better at home. Sara is uncomfortable knowing Greer didn't tell her parents she ran away from home and considers calling them, so they know where their daughter is.
At Dominic's apartment, he and Natalie listen to old records and discuss family baggage, before he moves in for a kiss. Natalie says she wants to remain friends, which doesn't please Dominic, but he decides to honor her wishes, since she doesn't have many female friends and things have just got better between her and April.
Simultaneously, Leo takes April home following the double date and they are surprised to see Julian on April's doorstep. Julian thanks Leo for helping with the "Private Parts" fundraiser, but Leo corrects him and says he's not helping. He's disappointed Leo's not interesting in using his condition to be inspirational anymore and tells him not to let April slip through his fingers.
Back at the Carver house, Greer brings up her and Brenna's kiss the night before and asks if Brenna's secret abortion influenced her sexuality. Brenna says it didn't and they make out.
The next morning, Graham and Beth view an apartment and wind up getting into an argument when Beth seems skeptical about snagging the place, because of a two-year lease. Graham thinks Beth doesn't want to commit.
At the office, Sara decides to continue her conversation with Owen and asks him about his marriage to his wife, Vivian. Owen says their marriage has become stressful due to fertility issues. He thinks what Vivian doesn't know won't hurt her.
On the day of the fundraiser, April is bummed that Leo bailed out, but is thankful for Brenna and Greer's help. At the same time, Greer's parents arrive at the Carver house, demanding she leave. Greer finally stands up to her parents, telling them what failures they are. She remains firm in her decision to stay with Brenna until her parents step up and respect her more. When they leave, Brenna hugs Greer, visibly proud.
Meanwhile, Beth and Graham reconcile after their fight. Graham lets her know he's found a different place they both can love and the lease only lasts six months. Beth is happy initially, but soon panics, realizing she and Graham have been moving too fast. Beth tells him she needs time to think, then leaves.
At the "Private Parts" Cancer Fundraiser, April laments Leo's absence and Beth follows suit, guilty that she hurt Graham. They both realize they need to compromise with their boyfriends more. A few beats later, April finds out that Leo has actually shown up as he prepares to emcee the event and make a speech. He shares a personal anecdote about his cancer story and how the heart can be a "private part." Leo also says he'd never been in love until he met April and how love can change people for the better. Once he's finished speaking, he rushes into the crowd and kisses April amid a collective cheer of approval. Beth and Sara both seem happy for April, while Natalie stares at Dominic longingly from afar. Sara also admits her fling with Owen is over, while Brenna and Greer goof off in the photo booth. The rest of the fundraiser is marked by carnival-esque fun.
In the midst of it all, April says she loves Leo too and they take pictures with Julian in the photo booth. Meanwhile, Beth apologizes to Graham in the photo booth, but he thinks they should break up, because they're in two different places in their lives.
Later, Graham returns to he and Dominic's apartment, begging for bro bonding time, admitting he's single again. Dominic declines from the bedroom, where he's cuddled up to Natalie.
