Cincinnati defensive tackle, Devon Still, took to his Instagram Wednesday to post some great news. His four-year-old daughter, Leah, who has been battling a rare pediatric cancer is officially in remission.
"After 296 days of day dreaming about what it would feel like to hear the doctors say my daughter is in remission, I finally know the feeling," Still captioned a picture of Leah giving a fist bump. "When I look at my daughter all I can do is smile and hug her … I'm so proud and blessed to call her my daughter."
Still, 25, added that Leah is not officially done with treatment yet. She still requires more to build her immune system back up and to make sure the cancer doesn’t return. “But I know my little warrior will get through it!" Still said. He also added that Leah is excited to have made it this far.
In an interview with ESPN‘s NFL Live, Still shared his reaction when he heard the great news.
“I really just froze in the car when I heard the doctor say that. It really didn’t hit me at first. Because like I said, I have been waiting so long for that feeling … I just sat there stunned, and once I really realized what the doctor said, I just started crying,” Still said. “And I looked at my daughter and she actually said, ‘Did I beat up cancer?’ And I told her, ‘Yeah.’ And we just started hugging.”
Still also has plans to throw Leah an anti-cancer party with all the princesses from Disney’s Frozen to celebrate, TMZ notes.
