Police said Monday that legendary rock star David Crosby stuck a jogger in Santa Ynez, California with his 2015 Black Tesla. The jogger’s injuries are not life threatening.
According to California Highway Patrol, Crosby was driving the Tesla at the posted speed limit - 55 mph - when he struck Jose Jimenez, 46, reports KEYT.
Jimenez was pushed forward, falling hard and suffering fractures and lacerations. He was then rushed to a hospital in Santa Barbara. He was jogging with his son, who was not injured.
USA Today reports that CHP believe that Crosby probably didn’t see Jimenez due to sun glare. They confirmed that he did stop right away to help Jimenez.
Investigators said that Crosby was not driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol.
“David Crosby is obviously very upset that he accidentally hit anyone,” a rep for Crosby, 73, said Monday. “And, based off of initial reports, he is relieved that the injuries to the gentleman were not life threatening. He wishes the jogger a very speedy recovery.”
Crosby is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer as a member of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Early last year, he released a new solo album, Croz. He lives in Santa Ynez.
