Free agent and longtime Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe will be playing in a new uniform next season as he has decided to sign with the Cleveland Browns.
Pro Football Talk has confirmed that the 30-year-old signed deal with the Browns for two years, but financial details have not been disclosed.
ESPN noted that Bowe was released by the Chiefs last week to free up some salary cap space. The team also recently acquired a younger replacement at the position with Jeremy Maclin.
Bowe was selected in the first round of the 2007 draft by the Chiefs and was very productive catching the ball despite not having much stability at the quarterback position during his time there.
The grass may not be that much greener in Cleveland though.
As of now, it is unclear if Josh McGown or Johnny Manziel will be throwing him the football next year. It is certain, however, that Bowe will definitely get balls thrown his way as the team’s No. 1 wideout. The Browns were in desperate need of a top receiver since Josh Gordon will be serving a season-long suspension in 2015.
During his career with the Chiefs Bowe racked up 532 receptions for 7,155 yards and 44 touchdowns. Last season, he was part of a mind-boggling stat in joining the other Kansas City wide receivers as not scoring a single touchdown the entire year.
