Elton John is not happy with Dolce and Gabbana, who have made controversial statements on their feelings in regards to what a traditional family is.

According to E! News, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who are gay and were previously in a relationship, made comments during an interview with an Italian magazine called Panorama, which was published a week ago. They believe that children should have both a mother and a father.

Dolce reportedly said, “You are born to a mother and a father. Or at least that’s how it should be. I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented wombs, semen chosen from a catalog.”

When he learned of the comments, John, who is the father to two sons with husband David Furnish, took to his Instagram and chided the designers. He wrote, “How dare you refer to my beautiful children as ‘synthetic.’” He also called for a boycott of the fashion designers and said he wouldn’t wear their line of clothing “ever again.”

IVF treatments have been used by both same-sex and heterosexual couples who wish to conceive a child. Celebrities including Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and Jaime King used IVF treatments in order to have a child.

Just recently, Dolce and Gabbana launched their latest collection, which focused on a family theme and showed mothers walking the runway with their children.

Since John’s comments, there has been plenty of commentary on the subject, including those who either support John or the designers.
