Jamie Foxx made a joke about Bruce Jenner’s transition at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday, which hasn’t been well received.
Foxx, who hosted the event, made the joke during the opening monologue. Jenner hasn’t confirmed the transition himself yet, reportedly opting to reveal it sometime this season on E!’s Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
“We got some ground-breaking performances, here too, tonight. We got Bruce Jenner, who will be doing some musical performances. He's doing a his-and-her duet all by himself,” Foxx said, CNN reports.
"I'm just busting your balls while I still can," he added.
The audience didn’t laugh like they laughed at jokes aimed at the Marvin Gaye lawsuit with Pharrell and Robin Thicke or about Suge Knight’s health and legal trouble. Many referred to it as transphobic.
Some took to Twitter to call it insensitive, with one user writing, “Seriously #JamieFoxx? #BruceJenner jokes? You're disgusting, that's not ok. It wasn't funny, just mean spirited and lazy. #SupportLGBT.”
