John Mayer is talking about Taylor Swift again in a new interview, but this time he’s singing her praises. He commended her for pulling her songs from Spotify and also talked about his song “Paper Doll,” which is about her.

After they dated, they had a brutal public back-and-forth moment in the media, which included her song “Dear John” and his song “Paper Doll.”

Swift and Mayer’s girlfriend, Katy Perry, also do not get along and Swift wrote a song about it called “Bad Blood.”

But Mayer wants to be “able to talk about Taylor Swift,” calling her a voice for all artists.

“Artists need the person with the loudest voice to speak for them,” he told Billboard.

“I think that’s a really cool thing for a musician to do. Like two percent of the music industry has 80 percent of all the media about it,” he continued. “There’s like four people who get all the press, and if any of those four people say, ‘I want to speak for those people who would just never make this a story.’ The only reason we’re talking about Taylor Swift taking Spotify on is because she’s Taylor Swift!"

He also just wants the media to drop their supposed feud and let them continue to make music while coexisting in the music industry.

“She’s an artist. I’m an artist. Let’s just … everybody stop. Nobody’s got an incurable cancer. We’re rich people who get to live out our dreams. Let’s just stop it,” he said.
