After years of back and forth with Selena Gomez, it seems Justin Bieber is focused on the single life. He’s in the midst of rehabilitating his image after taking a few years off and getting into a bit of trouble.

He sat down for an interview with USA Today and talked about what he would be looking for in a girlfriend if he was open to dating. He did say that he’s “not looking” right now.

“At this point in my life I'm so focused on myself that I'm not looking for a girlfriend,” he said. “I'm just trying to make sure I'm 100 percent so I can add to the person I want to be with. I want a girl I can trust, who I can lean on. This business is hard, and I want someone I can confide in.”

Bieber went on to admit he was on “weird terms” with his manager Scooter Braun for a while and he “lost” his relationship with his mom while he was going through a dark phase in his life, which including arrests and heavy partying.

“Unless you're stupid, I don't think you would think it's easy to be who I am. Just use your head, you'll understand that my life is not easy,” he explained.

He cited difficult aspects of the business such as not having privacy and living his life with cameras in his face since he was 13.

“We can talk and do interviews and I can say I'm in a better place, but until they see the walk, and see the transition come to life, that's what's really going to matter,” he said.

Bieber’s ex, Selena Gomez, released a very revealing song about their relationship called “The Heart Wants What It Wants,” so we’ll have to wait for his new album to see his side.
