Kathy Griffin appeared on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show and The View on Monday, where she talked about her departure from E!’s Fashion Police and why she quit.
Griffin made the announcement last week that after seven episodes, she was throwing in the towel on hosting duties of the show.
The show is currently in crisis because of Giuliana Rancic’s comment about Zendaya’s hair, which resulted in Kelly Osbourne quitting then Griffin following suit.
She said it simply wasn’t the “right fit” for her and her style of comedy.
“After a while, I kind of felt like I was being forced to comment about pictures of beautiful women in perfect dresses and say kind of bad things," she said. "As a feminist and a comic, it just didn't feel like the right fit for me."
Griffin also told Stern it wasn’t her “best work” and she’s more proud of her stand-up specials than any of the work she did on the show.
She also revealed she asked Lena Dunham to help her create a statement announcing her exit and also asked some celebrity friends for public support.
“I was going up against a big corporation, and I'm scared, and I'm nervous,” she explained.
She also admitted she should have never taken the job, especially so soon after Joan Rivers' death.
