Leah Remini is commending the filmmakers of Going Clear, the documentary that blows the lid off the practice of Scientology. Remini left the church back in 2013.
Remini left the church before her daughter, Sofia, could go through the auditing process.
She took to Twitter to praise Alex Gibney, whose film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and examines the controversial religion as well as the head of the church, David Miscavige. Several former members of the church were interviewed for it and recount their stories of alleged blackmail and threats.
“Thank you to the brave who did something about it. And to those who didn't have a voice, you do now. #GoingClear,” she wrote.
In response to the documentary, the church has called it a “bigoted propaganda.”
The film aired on HBO on Sunday. It’s based off of the book written by Lawrence Wright.
