The Fast and the Furious actress Michelle Rodriguez has apologized and explained her recent comments about minority actors "stealing" white superhero roles.

The Wrap reported that Rodriguez posted a video to her Facebook page clarifying what she said on Saturday to a TMZ reporter about possibly playing the traditionally white Green Lantern: "Stop stealing all the white people's superheroes," she said. "Make up your own."

In her Facebook video, Rodriguez apologized for the comments.

"I stuck my foot in my mouth once again," she said.

She went on to explain what she meant, describing that comic book characters shouldn't become minorities merely for the sake of diversity.

"It's not about taking Catwoman or Superman or Green Lantern ... and trying to make them fit to whatever cultural background you are," she said. "I just feel like it should be more creative than that."

Rodriguez's latest film, Furious 7, hits theaters on April 3.
