NFL Free Agency is finally here and the first official news that we did not seeing coming is that the New Orleans Saints have traded Jimmy Graham to the Seattle Seahawks.
FOX Sports was the first to report that the Saints traded a fourth-round pick and star tight end Jimmy Graham to the Seahawks for center/guard Max Unger and Seattle’s first-round draft pick.
Pro Football Talk noted that Graham just signed a four-year, $40 million extension with the Saints last year, a contract his new team is now taking on. The deal made him the highest paid tight end in league.
The 28-year-old has been an extremely productive player for the team that selected him in the third round of the NFL Draft.
So far for his career, he has registered 4,752 yards and 51 touchdowns. Only the Patriots Rob Gronkowski has more touchdowns in the red zone.
Graham is also tied with Joe Horn and Marques Colston for most TDs in a season with the franchise and was named to three Pro Bowls.
Even with Unger and a first-round pick, Graham’s absence in New Orleans could prove to be a tremendous loss for the Saints.
