Poor New York Jets fans, they had a rough couple years and now they’re getting a star receiver in Brandon Marshall, but don’t realize they are welcoming the wrong person on Twitter.
As Bleacher Report noted, the Denver Broncos linebacker, with the same name, thought it would be fun to mess with some Jets fans when the trade rumors for the wide out started.
However, when the Chicago Bears reportedly traded the receiver Marshall, clueless fans started welcoming the linebacker to the team instead. Some fans have since deleted their tweets … after they were likely read though.
The Marshall they meant to welcome was reportedly sent to the Jets for a fifth-round pick.
The 30-year-old receiver has spent nine years in the league and coincidentally started his career with the Broncos, before joining the Miami Dolphins and then the Bears.
Marshall has been named to five Pro Bowls. He is also an advocate for people with mental health issues as he himself admitted that he has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
The linebacker Marshall is just going to have to deal with Jets fans blowing up his mentions now until they all figure out he’s not the right guy.
