Even though the National Football League has a playing season that consists of six months, the real NFL season never ends. It's such a juggernaut these days that each and every piece of information is highlighted and analyzed to boredom.

The beginning of March of each year marks the rookie combine and free agency, which is truly the start of the brand spanking new NFL calendar season. It's the first step in that two month process of rebuilding or retooling a team - eventually capping off with the NFL Draft in early May.

While most seasons have seen very ho-hum free agency periods - with a signing here and a small trade there - 2015 has been a whirlwind of activity.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly got the party started quickly by sending stud running back LeSeaon McCoy to Buffalo for young linebacker Kiko Alonso. While others were signing onto new teams on Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints also decided to get into the shock business by sending Jimmy Graham to Seattle.

As for as straight free agency is concerned, we've seen quite a high level of activity.

Big winners so far include the New York Jets as they've inked not one, not two, but three cornerbacks to multi-year deals; the Eagles as Kelly lured Murray from Dallas to Philly; and the Jacksonville Jaguars hauling in one of the top tight ends in the league.

A common theme this offseason has been Chip Kelly going completely rogue while wheeling and dealing by the minute. Now, after much speculation he would, Kelly is claiming he will not go after Marcus Mariota in the draft. Only time will tell whether trading Nick Foles for Sam Bradford will suffice his quarterback needs.
