The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to sign former Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray to a lucrative deal.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen, the Eagles are expected to sign Murray to a deal reportedly worth $42 million over five years with $21 million guaranteed.

Furthermore, a source has confirmed to 6 ABC Action News that the two sides verbally agreed to the deal.

The Eagles have been making all kinds of moves this offseason and after trading star running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills last week, this looks like the team’s next big move. This reported deal also comes just after the team agreed to sign former San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews on Wednesday and already have running back Darren Sproles. So if they all remain on the squad, the team will have its own three-headed monster. And, currently running back Chris Polk is also still with the Birds.

Murray, 27, had an unbelievable season last year. He was the league’s leading rusher behind the league’s best offensive line. The Eagles may not have Dallas’ line, but they do have a very good offensive line and it seems that there will be plenty of backs to rotate in and out when necessary.

Something else besides the money and chance to win with Philly may have swayed Murray’s reported decision to sign and that would be new Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford. The two attended the University of Oklahoma together and are good friends.

Eagles fans are still holding their breath until everything is official though since they were already burned this week by running back Frank Gore. He also agreed to sign, but decided to sign with the Indianapolis Colts instead.
