As Real Housewives of Atlanta's 7 season kicks off episode 16, e are fresh off the heels of last week’s dramatic dinner date.
After Cynthia brought up the scandalous “Chocolate” situation to Phaedra at dinner (with everyone there), things escalated between the entire group, especially Kenya and Phaedra.
It’s sad to see everyone turn on Cynthia when the focus should be on Phaedra who is completely avoiding something that’s more than likely true. Cynthia never said it was true. Cynthia never said Phaedra was doing anything wrong. Cynthia was simply bringing up what was being said about Phaedra, she was doing her a favor if anything. And for someone like Nene of all people to criticize Cynthia for doing it in front of everyone, you’re on the Real Housewives. Be real, Nene and stop looking for a reason to hate on Cynthia.
Phaedra is loving that this situation is easily turned onto Cynthia. Phaedra never once addressed the issue. Ding ding ding, smells like guilt.
Now we are spending time with Kandi and Todd who are going to marriage counseling. May I just say, who would have thought this couple would be in therapy already. As a duo who has fought the opinion of those around them for quite some time, it would be nice to see them come out on top. The love seems to be there, hopefully they are able to focus on that from here on out. It’s rather interesting to see this side of both Kandi and Todd, who typically are portrayed as a happy, successful couple for the most part, to clearly be in a time of need. They are very open about it, the emotions are on full display for everyone. Kudos to them for keeping it real.
Commercial break.
Now we’re at Peter’s event that he’s hosting. Peter literally hosts some type of event in almost every episode, interesting. Claudia and Kenya are hanging out with Peter and Cynthia as they wait for the rest of the cast to arrive. Claudia looks great. She was such a good addition this season. Kandi arrives to the event looking extra sexy, Claudia even tells her she will get pregnant that night. Funny!
Cynthia made a good point, she only has the “tea” because Peter told her about it. Yet, she’s the one who’s having to clean up the mess. I guess they don’t call Peter (Patricia) the honorary housewife for nothing.
The girls are talking, again, about the situation. It’s nice to hear Kandi say she thinks Phaedra’s friendship between Nene is kind of weird. It is kind of weird. Does anyone remember when Phaedra claimed to have known Nene from her “Athens years” and Nene literally acted like she’d never heard of Phaedra at all. So nasty, so rude.
It’s really cool to see Kandi win the excellence award. No doubt Kandi is a hustler and one of the most successful housewives across the entire franchise.
Ironically enough, the next scene is Nene speaking with a therapist about the group of ladies. She seems to think that all of the women should meet with him together to get the problems out. Good idea. The funny part is that Nene is the one doing this. What a way to make viewers think you’re actively trying to better things between the group. Nice one, Nene. Now, let’s not say that Nene is 100% full of it. There’s always the possibility that on this day of filming she was in a good mood and truly wanted to heal the situation. However, Nene is the queen of shade herself and everyone knows it.
Phaedra and Cynthia are meeting up at Keegan’s for dinner, AKA to argue. Phaedra looks terribly uncomfortable. *Cough* GUILT *Cough*. Cynthia is making her case clear regarding the Chocolate rumor. Phaedra asks her if her intentions were malicious? Of course they aren’t malicious, Phaedra. Stop turning the situation around.
Phaedra walks out of dinner again. This is two episodes now of her literally running from the situation.
Next scene is Kandi being the business woman she is, checking in on one of her stores. Mama Joyce pays a visit and poor Kandi ends up in tears again. Kandi’s love for her mother is so evident, but it does seem Ms. Joyce has a hard time easing up on her daughter. Gotta love Mama Joyce though.
Nene is meeting up with Claudia and Demetria. Interesting. Cynthia just walked in, didn’t know she was coming. Cynthia’s hit it on the head in her interview segment, saying Nene is different every day. That’s so obvious considering one day she hates Cynthia and the next she’s trying to be social with her.
Kandi joins the rest of the crowd too. By the way, Claudia, how do you not like Mexican food? Yum.Nene brought everyone together to tell them about the plans for the group therapy session. Kandi says she doesn’t want to go to the session with Dr. Jeff before we’re sent to a break.
After the break Nene is telling Kandi she needs to come to the meeting, saying she and Phaedra could work on their “issues.” Nene’s shadow, Porsha, chimes in and supports Nene of course. Trying to get that full time position back, huh Ms. Stewart?
Kandi defends herself, saying she and Phaedra simply have different opinions of the Apollo/Phaedra situation. The episode closes out with Kandi agreeing to come to therapy with the rest of the ladies.
The preview for next week’s episode is so dramatic, Nene storms out of therapy!
Check back next week for another review.
