Ryan Gosling is coming to his girlfriend Eva Mendes’ defense when it comes to her comments about sweatpants, claiming she was just joking.
Mendes’ comment to Extra that wearing sweatpants are the “number one cause of divorce in America” got a lot of attention but her boyfriend is now clearing it up.
He took to Twitter to say, "Obviously sweatpants thing was a joke. Wearing them now. That’s right, tweeting in sweatpants. Rats! Said too much! You win again Twitter.”
Gosling’s defense of his longtime girlfriend and mother of his daughter, Esmeralda, is sort of a big deal considering he very rarely tweets. Last month, he returned to the social networking site after not tweeting since 2013.
Mendes told Extra of the comfy lounge wear, “You can’t do sweatpants,” adding, “Ladies, number one cause of divorce in America, sweatpants, no!”
Mendes and Gosling welcomed their first child six months ago.
