Shailene Woodley is taking a break from her Divergent filming to take a role in the upcoming Oliver Stone bio picture about Edward Snowden. Woodley will be playing Lindsay Mills, who was the longtime girlfriend of Snowden. Joseph Gordon Levitt will be playing Snowden in the film.

E! Online reported that during an appearance to promote her latest film, Insurgent, Woodley was ask about Snowden and what her thoughts were on the whistle blower.

"I define a hero as somebody, who against the judgment of other people, if they believe something will positively impact the world and they choose to do it and honor their integrity, that's what I sort of consider a hero, no matter how big or mall a feat they create," explained Woodley. "And in that light, absolutely I think that Edward Snowden is a hero."

The Divergent star has not been able to speak to either Mills or Snowden. Snowden is currently in Moscow attempting to receive political asylum.

Images have been released from the set and show Levitt as Snowden, Deadline reported. The movie is expected to be released on December 25 by Open Road.
