The Tennessee Titans are looking to bolster the team’s defense by reportedly agreeing to re-sign linebacker Derrick Morgan and adding linebacker Brain Orakpo.
ESPN reported on Friday morning that a source close to the situation said that the Titans have reached an agreement with Orakpo for around $8 million a year.
Orakapo, 28, spent his first six seasons in the league with the Washington Redskins. Last season, he was sidelined after only seven games with a right pectoral muscle tear, an injury he suffered against his now-reported new team. He is a three-time Pro Bowler and has recorded a total of 40 sacks in his career.
In addition to the reported deal with Orakpo, the Tennessean’s Jim Wyatt tweeted that sources said the team will also re-sign Derrick Morgan for four years at about $30 million.
Morgan, 26, has been with the team his whole career and has recorded 23 sacks.
Of course, there many holes to fill in Tennessee and the team will have the chance to address one of those major needs with the valuable, second pick in the upcoming draft.
Last year, the team was close to bottom in all defensive categories, so the hope is that the addition of Orakpo and some other nice picks in the draft will change that.
