Famed news anchor Tom Brokaw is reportedly releasing a book that will detail his battle with cancer.
CNN Money reported that the Random House publishing company announced the news that Brokaw’s memoir, titled A Lucky Life Interrupted will be released on May 12.
The publishing company described the book as a “moving personal memoir of the year he spent battling multiple myeloma, a bone marrow cancer, with reflections on the medical quest, the life lessons learned and news events he covered for NBC.”
There are already hardcover books available for people to pre-order at a price of $27.
Brokaw has published a few books already, including the bestselling The Greatest Generation about the real stories of veterans during World War II.
USA Today reported after his cancer diagnosis, Brokaw kept a journal beginning in 2013 and it was the basis of what would then become his memoir. Brokaw had been diagnosed with cancer in August of that year and has since gone into remission.
Brokaw’s editor, Kate Medina, said the book was “a generous, informative, inspiring book. It is a deeply human, very moving and wonderfully written memoir.”
NBC News will give Brokaw coverage of his amazing story after the book is published.
Brokaw has been a celebrated journalist since the ‘60s and recently was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama last year.
