Imagine Dragons first came onto the music scene when they released, “Demons” and “Radioactive” off of Night Visions. They had a unique sound that was unheard of in the rock/pop industry at the time. They had a sound that combined, hard-hitting rock ‘n’ roll with EDM influences and Dan Reynold’s vocal range that pulled everything together in a way that felt seamless. Now the group is back with their second album Smoke Mirrors.

Now, Imagine Dragons will have a whole new list of singles to add to their growing collection. Smoke Mirrors features many songs that have the potential of being huge singles like, “Trouble,” “I’m So Sorry” and “Polaroid.”

Within the lyrics the band told a detailed and complex story and this was the type of music that had fans constantly coming back for more and re-listening to Night Visions because it had so many multifaceted layers.

“I’m So Sorry” is featured on Smoke + Mirrors and will likely be a hit for the band in only a matter of time. The lyrics are inspiring, the melody is catch and Dan Reynolds sounds pitch perfect on the track.

“It’s Time,” was featured on Imagine Dragon’s first album Night Vision and showed a lighter more upbeat side to the hard hitting rock ‘n’ roll band. “It’s Time” was a single that captured their ability to really tell a story through their lyrics while having complex and intriguing instrumentals that helped to frame the overall musical picture.

After such hits like “Radioactive” and “Demons” fans were left wondering what the band would do next. How do they follow up such strong success and a great first impression on the music industry? Imagine Dragons released their next single, “I Bet My Life” and showed off their new musical direction. With this single along, it was clear that they would not be experiencing a sophomore slump.

“Shots” is the first track off of Smoke + Mirrors. It doesn’t sound like the songs that were featured on Night Vision and this is a positive direction for the band. Why not take the time to explore different aspects of their musical influences and embrace a new sound. They took what has made them such a popular group and added in new musical influences that result in a more contemporary and distinctive feel. “Shots” also has elements of subtly that highlight the vocal range of Reynolds.

“Radioactive” was the song that started it all.
