Last night’s Criminal Minds focused on the abduction of Sophie Troy, the wife of a congressman named Benjamin Troy. The congressman is distraught at his wife’s disappearance and the team does all they can to find her.
At first, they believe it is likely she was abducted because of her husband’s politics, including his position on a subject that the oil companies are trying to sway his opinion on. There are also possibilities that Russian ties may be the reason for the abduction. However, nothing is what it seems in this episode and we are in for one last surprise.
Meanwhile, to help with the case, Reid helps with the investigation by doing surveillance across from the home where they believe the abductors are staying. He is able to find out critical information because of this, such as how much money had originally been asked and the sex of the unsub. He works alongside Agent Dorian Loker as they keep an eye on their suspects.
This episode was a real adrenaline rush and every moment left us in total suspense of what would happen next. For “Rock Creek Park,” the show did a nice job of throwing us off even until the end. What did you like from the episode?

10. The case
Agent Hotchner talks to Congressman Benjamin Troy, whose wife has been abducted. At first, the team was unsure if his wife or the congressman was the target. He gets all the facts he can and they try to keep it away from the press, but it gets leaked anyway that Sophie Troy is missing.

9. Suspects
There is no shortage of suspects in this case and in order to follow a lead, Reid is sent to work with Agent Dorian Loker on surveillance. She has been watching two low-level thugs who have Russian criminal ties. Agent Adam Fuchs tells the team they heard them talk about a kidnapping a week earlier, which was supposed to happen around the time Sophie disappeared. They were waiting for someone named Dyadya to call them back, so Fuchs allows an agent to work with them. Reid goes to meet Loker and during their initial meeting, he accidentally spoils a book ending for her, but they seem to hit it off while they work.

In an effort to try and find his wife, the congressman does an interview on television and sends a message to his wife. He tells her to be strong and that he loves her before breaking down.

7. Gruesome clue
The team tracks a call to a warehouse in Rock Creek Park only to find a gruesome clue waiting for them. In the video below, there is an image of an ear left in a box.

6. Two stories
After digging up information on an ex-intern and Benjamin Troy’s affair, the team talks to both of them separately. While the woman, Michelle Golovin, claims that they are in love, Troy tells the team he broke things off right after he met Sophie. He also says that the woman is obsessed with him and he had bought a handgun for protection.

5. Surveillance
Reid and Loker are watching the house next door to get information on the suspects, Roman Azaroff and Taras Yudin they believe have Sophie. Reid hears the maid, Fana, speaking to her mother on the phone before the two suspects come home.

4. Going in?
Reid is listening to what is happening across the street and he hears the suspects abusing Fana. When he hears them about to kill her, he tries to run out to get them, but there is a gunshot. On the phone, Rossi tells Reid to go in, but then Reid hears that one of the suspects is dead and that Fana and the other one are together. This also allows Reid to find out a critical clue about their unsub.
This case will keep you guessing until the very last scene. #CriminalMinds

3. The real kidnapper
After learning from Reid their unsub is a female, the team discusses who could have been behind it, before they realize it is Troy’s mother. After confronting her, they are able to rescue Sophie.

After finishing their surveillance work, Reid goes back to see Loker and they talk for a moment before he asks her out in Russian.

1. One final twist
One final twist to the story is when Troy goes to visit his mother in prison. At first, it appears he simply goes to visit her, but then the final surprise of the night is he was in on the kidnapping to boost his approval ratings.
