Kimmy is now starting her journey to getting a GED, the first step in fulfilling her post-bunker dreams. Titus says he wished he skipped real high school too, since he was a star athlete, much to his chagrin. The roommates arrive at the school and Titus’ main advice for Kimmy is a good one - “Don’t get lice!”
Unfortunately for Kimmy, her GED prep teacher Mr. Lefkowitz (Richard Kind) isn’t nearly as excited as she is. On the first day of class, he pops in a VHS of Major League and calls it a day. Kimmy also meets Dong (Ki Hong Lee), whose name is obviously funny for Kimmy. But Dong tells her that “Kimmy” means “penis” in Vietnamese, so they’re even.
After that first disappointing class, Kimmy tries to get transferred to another GED Prep class, but, due to budget cuts, Mr. L’s class is the only one. She also learns from the school secretary that the principal might be dead and that one more complaint against Mr. L could get him fired. Kimmy is too good a person to want to get someone fired, so she decides to help Mr. L re-learn how to love teaching.
The trouble is, Mr. L has never loved teaching. After all, he once screwed up a student’s future so he could mail a letter to the Beverly D’Angelo fan club. Mr. L is actually hoping that Kimmy complains, because it means he would be stuck in the rubber room. If Kimmy fails, he would also go to the rubber room. (That’s where teachers with tenure go if they are terrible, but can’t be fired.)
But Major League inspires Kimmy! If Kimmy, Dong and the rest of her classmates study on the side and pass, they can beat Mr. L and get that GED!
Titus’ storyline was a bit more hilarious and linked him and Lillian with Jacqueline’s world, although Jacqueline wasn’t actually in this episode at all. Titus wants to make a music video for his song “Peenot Noir - An Ode To Black Penis” and takes Lillian along to film him. At first, they try to use the outside of a strip club, but are turned away. Then, the garage they try to use is filled with bats.
Kimmy tells them that Jacqueline’s home is empty and, since she has her own adventure with Mr. L to work out, she can’t house-sit. Titus will only house-sit if they can film “Peenot Noir” there and Kimmy reluctantly agrees.
When they are almost done, Xanthippe arrives! Titus is in his handyman costume and tries to convince Xanthippe that he’s really there to do some work. So Xanthippe tries to take advantage of Titus by having him also clean up the mess she made in the kitchen with her friends.
Titus and Lillian agree, but only if Xanthippe doesn’t tell Jacqueline about Kimmy letting them in. While cleaning, though, they discover that Xanthippe’s friends stole her ancestor’s pipe and Titus helps her get it back.
Xanthippe still doesn’t understand why Titus and Lillian would do so much to protect Kimmy. They do it because Kimmy is a good friend and Xanthippe is going to have to learn that her friends aren’t very nice people.
The episode ends with the full “Peenot Noir” video, which is just too funny. And let’s give Richard Kind the Emmy for Guest Actor in a Comedy series already.
