Brad Pitt does a lot to prepare for each role, but getting a bruise right under his left eye was not a part of the plan.
Pitt’s bruise made its public debut at the third annual Light Up The Blues Concert in Hollywood Saturday, which raises funds for Autism Speaks. He later told People Magazine that it wasn’t a big deal and would not get in the way of him attending an important benefit.
“This is what happens when you try to run up steps in the dark, with your arms full, wearing flip flops,” Pitt told the magazine. “Turns out if you then try to stop your forward momentum with your face, the result is road rash.”
The actor, 51, added, “Regardless, I wasn't going to miss the Autism Speaks benefit the night after – wonderful people and I was honored to be a part of this important event.”
Comedian Jack Black hosted the event at the Pantages Theatre. Pitt won an auction for a Fender guitar signed by all the performers, who each have autism. He paid $23,000 for it.
Pitt attended the ceremony solo. Just Jared points out that his wife, Angelina Jolie, was just arriving in Los Angeles after speaking at the UN Security Council Meeting in New York.
Pitt just finished filming Jolie’s By The Sea and is set to start work on The Big Short.
