Following Britt McHenry’s viral video scandal, for which she got suspended from her job at ESPN for one week, McHenry is already back to work.
The video showed McHenry insulting a tow company’s employee, telling her “I’m in the news sweetheart,” and insulting her weight, teeth and socioeconomic status.
SI.com reports McHenry was back to work on Thursday and will be back on the air this weekend when she appears on SportsCenter. Next Thursday she will cover the Rams as part of coverage for the opening round of the NFL draft.
ESPN’s senior coordinating producer, Seth Markman, told SI.com McHenry’s role won’t change from last year. She will appear at most NFL games on the weekends.
“It wouldn’t shock me if some people react negatively,” Markman explained of her return. “My head hasn’t been buried in the sand. I’ve read a lot on this, and more than anything, she knows she made a mistake. She’s owned up to it. I think she is just really anxious to get back to work.”
He went on to say they have had a conversation that winning the public’s trust “would take time and it will be hard,” but she’s willing to “do her job really well and hopefully win back some of the trust of our viewers.”
McHenry's suspension got a lot of criticism, with most believing she should've received a harsher penalty for her actions.
