Last night was absolutely monumental for Bruce Jenner.
The former Olympian’s much anticipated interview with Diane Sawyer aired to a whopping 17 million viewers. Fans and supporters around the country tuned in to hear Jenner confirm what they’ve been speculating for quite some time: Jenner is transitioning to female.
Simply titled, Bruce Jenner - The Interview the ABC 20/20 special filmed back in February, according to USA Today, when Jenner confided in the long-time TV personality. According to the report, Jenner’s special dominated the ratings charts as it beat out nearly all of the programming for Friday night television.
It wasn’t just the television ratings that soared, either. USA Today insists that Jenner’s special with Sawyer took the title as “the most-social Friday telecast of all time, with nearly a million tweets in two hours from a total of 403,000 eager viewers.
Following the airing of the special, Jenner’s children and step-children all took to their social media platforms to express their love and support for their father, in addition to thanking fans and viewers for their support as well.
Jenner has undoubtedly changed the course of history with his bravery.
