Just days before Bruce Jenner told ABC News’ Diane Sawyer that he is now a woman, photos of him wearing a dress were published by the New York Daily News and aired on CNN. The former Olympic star’s team is now threatening legal action against both media outlets for showing the “illegally obtained” photos.

On April 21, Jenner was seen wearing a dress outside of his Malibu home. The next day, the Daily News ran photos of him and CNN even aired them. Jenner noticed that paparazzi were outside his home and called police.

The photos were distributed by X-17 and have been removed from the Daily News and CNN sites. His spokesman confirmed to the New York Post that X-17 also stopped selling the photo, since they now know they were shot illegally.

“Both Daily News and CNN pulled the photos sold to them by X17 once they found out they were illegally obtained,” the rep said. “The agency no longer is selling those photos [since] they confirmed they were shot illegally.”

Still, Jenner’s attorney, Marty Singer, told the Post that they will still consider taking legal action over the photos, which were taken with a telephoto lens from a mile away.

“The photos were clearly unlawfully taken from a very long distance using an enhancement device. Bruce Jenner is going to enforce his right to privacy,” Singer told the Post.

Sawyer’s interview with Jenner aired Friday night. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, 65, told Sawyer that, “For all intents and purposes, I’m a woman.” He still wishes to use male pronouns and will star in an E! Network series about his transition.
