Channing Tatum used the power of social media to locate a lost item that he left in a New York City cab and it ended up working out in his favor.

The Magic Mike XXL star took to Twitter to ask his over 7 million followers for help in finding his lost bag and as it turned out, there were lots of people willing to help.

“Dropped off at 42nd street in New York City and left my bag in the cab!” he first wrote on Saturday. “Seriously, left my black backpack in a cab near NYC's 42nd street. If you find it, email me at findmybag@channingtatumunwrapped.com. Thanks!”

Someone found the bag and returned it to the actor as of Sunday night. He then posted an update and thanked everyone who pitched in to help, especially the unknown fan who returned it, E! Online reports.

“To everyone who tried to help and to the good New York Samaritan who found my bag and asked for nothing in return, thank you. Thank you all!" he tweeted.

Tatum’s experience with his bag shows the positive side of social media, which we all need to be reminded of every once and a while. Similar occurrences have happened to Steve Martin, Tom Hanks and Mark Ruffalo.
