Ryan and her team receive a new case about a hacking at the Kirkendahl Hotel in New York City. In fear of all their high profile guests and confidential information getting out, they contacted her team for help.
Ryan and Mundo show up to the hotel where they are told that sensitive emails and addresses are at risk of being revealed. She also tells them that security footage has been wiped for the past week. Ryan believes that the hacker isn't interested in the files, they're trying to cover up something else.
The hotel manager goes to room 715 to tell Ms. Adele Foster to turn down her music. Her door reads do not disturb and she doesn't answer the door. The manager lets himself in and turns off the music. He see's the room is trashed and goes to look for Adele, finding her body in the tub.
Mundo and Ryan check out the scene. They find out that Adele checked in on her own five days ago. Ryan notices bruises on her body and they are given a time of death of three days ago, however, the room shows orders being made up until that morning for breakfast.
Raven finds that employees received malware through a part invitation through their email, allowing the hacker to breach the firewall. They believe the murderer broke into the hotel's software and placed the orders to make it look as if Adele was alive. They have Adele's laptop, tablet and destroyed cell phone that was attempted to be flushed down the toilet.
Nelson and Krumitz argue over who has to take care of the "poop phone." Raven finds that the hacker forgot to make his email anonymous through the party invitation. Mundo finds Wescott and arrests him for the murder of Adele and computer fraud.
Wescott denies knowing Adele and hacking the hotel. Evidence shows that Wescott was in the room at her time of death and they have text messages he sent to Adele, threatening her, but Wescott still denies everything.
Shane, Adele's boyfriend, talks to Ryan. He tells her that he didn't go to New York because of work. Ryan notices bruises on Shane's knuckles but dismisses it due to his job in construction. Krumitz rebuilds Adele's cell phone and doesn't find the threatening texts anywhere. Mundo checks with Wescott's cell provider and they don't have any records of the texts either. All of Wescott's evidence were faked and he was being framed.
After going through different scenarios about how Wescott could have gotten hacked, they come up with Wi-Fi he connected to at Carla's Cafe. The hacker created a hotspot under the same name and Wescott connected to the wrong one. They go in search of a look-alike router that was involved.
Raven finds the router company and they gave her information on where and when it was bought. When reviewing the camera's, Ryan sees Shane, Adele's boyfriend.
They go to his apartment but he isn't there. Ryan sees evidence of an abusive relationship and realizes that Adele was leaving him. They also find a box half-filled with bullets and go to find Shane before he hurts someone else.
Shane's browser history shows that he has been following Adele's investigation and is going after Wescott. Shane disguises himself as a delivery person for Wescott's club. He points the gun at him and Mundo shows up. Shane eventually puts his gun down and While Mundo picks it up, he runs. Mundo follows him to the roof where Shane jumps, but Mundo grabs him in time and arrests him.
Ryan tells Mundo that they still have no proof that Shane killed Adele, but Raven, Nelson and Krumitz figured it out. Shane forgot about the motion tracking device in his cell phone which not only places him at the hotel during her time of death, but also recreates the who struggle.
The team returns to headquarters where they look for the spider that Nelson is afraid of.
