As usual, people either love them or hate them. We of course are talking about the New York Yankees, and a recent Facebook map provides further evidence.
Facebook recently put together a poll which reveals how Major League Baseball fandom shakes out across the country. Unlike the NFL for example, MLB is more of a regional professional sports league, and the results backed it up.
As it turned out, the Yankees unsurprisingly took the crown as the country's most popular team. Of course there will be many baseball fans upset about that.
Breaking the poll down by individual counties, only two teams didn't show up on the map at all. One was the New York Mets and the other happened to be the Oakland Athletics. The obvious reason is of course the teams who play in the same city (Yankees and San Francisco Giants), trump them in popularity and relevancy.

The Toronto Blue Jays, while not owning one county in the United States, took the majority of sections in Canada - as the Boston Red Sox stole a few.
While the poll is anything but formal - because not every baseball fan has Facebook - is it a pretty solid representation of MLB fandom.
