Star Wars fans get a Star Wars day once a year, but a day for Losties is much more rare. Today, 10 years after the show first aired, we finally have our Lost Day.
As many Lost fans pointed out on Twitter, today’s date matches Hurley’s lottery ticket and the numbers that appeared on the side of the hatch on The Island. Today is 4/8/15. At 16:23:42, clocks actually had all the numbers that appeared on the lottery ticket. #LostDay also trended on Twitter.
As Variety reminds us, we did later discover that they were the numbers that Desmond had to type into a computer in the hatch every 108 minutes. Plus, the numbers also represented Jacob’s candidates for protector of the island.
Lost Day only happens once a century, but you could be less strict about it and just celebrate the show every April 8. However, Sept. 22 is also an important date for the show, since that’s its official birthday. The show first aired on Sept. 22, 2004 on ABC and is easily the first show to gain an obsessive following in the Internet age.
