Jake Gyllenhaal appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show and discussed his relationship status, as well as his former gig as a member of a boy band.
According to E! News, he spoke with DeGeneres about his favorite spots to take a girl on the first date. He responded to a question about whether he had experienced a bad first date. The Southpaw actor said, “Well one thing I always do is bring my dates to my mother’s house for the first date.”
His reasoning is that his mom liked to set him up so he jokingly said that giving her the chance to meet his dates was a good way for her be able to review them.
While she has yet to set him up, he said he would go on the date and that he “would trust my mom.”
Gyllenhaal also revealed he is currently single, much to the delight of the audience.
The New York Daily News reported that DeGeneres then surprised the star by telling him she found out he had been a former boy band member.
Gyllenhaal admitted that “I was in a really, really bad band when I was in high school.” Apparently, the band’s name was Whole Shot.” She put a cover up on the screen, showing him with his former band mates, with one looking away from the camera.
