When Dennis Quaid's epic meltdown leaked on Tuesday, many thought it was part of an elaborate publicity stunt with none other than Jimmy Kimmel Live host Jimmy Kimmel behind it.

The late night host responded to this on his show that same night, denying he had anything to do with it.

After telling the audience how hilarious he thinks the video is, he said, “I have to say, it's disappointing. Because you play like 50 pranks and all of a sudden people don't trust you anymore.”

Kimmel’s favorite line out of Quaid’s whole meltdown was “dopey the d-ck,” so he told his audience, “For the next eight years, I'm planning to call everyone Dopey the D-ck. I might have a T-shirt printed up.”

He went on to keep joking about how everyone’s “blaming him” for the video, but revealed the “real reason.”

“The truth is, the reason Dennis released that video is to promote his new children's book, Dopey the D-ck>. I read it to my daughter last night,” he joked.

Many believe it’s too ironic that Quaid announced a new scripted series for Crackle the same day the video leaked. When TMZ caught up with him Tuesday afternoon he would only say, “Come on, man.”
