At the end of last night’s episode of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart finally announced when he will be finishing his run as host of the Comedy Central show. As expected, it will be during the summer.
Just before Monday’s Moment of Zen, Stewart told the audience that his final show will be Aug. 6.
“I will be wearing a suit, I will more than likely be showered,” he said, to laughter from the audience. “I’m sorry. I’ll be wearing overalls and I won’t shower!”
Stewart also said that there is a new Omaze.com charity contest to win tickets to the final taping. Proceeds from each entry will go to New York Collaborates For Autism and Night Of Too Many Stars.
Stewart announced in February that he planned to leave the show by the end of the year. In March, Trevor Noah was named his successor.
Over the weekend, Stewart explained his decision to leave the show in an interview with The Guardian. “I’d covered an election four times, and it didn’t appear that there was going to be anything wildly different about this one,” he said.
