Kelly Clarkson has been at the receiving end of criticism about her weight and she has responded by taking the high road on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Clarkson, who first took the time to gush over how adorable her daughter River, 9 months, is, says she’s used to the criticism and lets it roll off her back.

“I love how people think that's new. Like, welcome to the past 13 years!" she told DeGeneres, E! Online reports.

She also brought up the fact that her weight fluctuates and sometimes she gets into working out but other times prefers to relax and enjoy some wine instead.

What really hurts her feelings is when she meets fans who are heavier than she is and tell her, “If they think you're big I must be so fat to them.”

“We are who we are—whatever size. It doesn't mean that we're gonna be that forever,” she added.

Clarkson was targeted by British personality Katie Hopkins, who body shamed her on Twitter, but it didn’t bother the “Heartbeat Song” singer.

Her response? “I'm awesome. It doesn't bother me. It's a free world. Say what you will." Now that’s taking the high road.
