You may think that Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel was made in color and it was. But so much post-production work changed the film’s entire color scheme, turning it into a dreary movie that was anything but a traditional Superman film. But what if we saw Man of Steel with actual color? One lab on YouTube answered that question.

Last week, VideoLab posted an informative video that shows how and why they decided to give Man of Steel a different look. The added color certainly does prove that Man of Steel would have been a much nicer looking movie if it was closer to Superman: The Movie than The Dark Knight.

Sure, the bland colors resulted in an international box office hit that will launch the DC Cinematic Universe, but it took away the positivity of Superman.

Later, VideoLab notes that even in the darkest of comic books - Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns - Superman’s bright Metropolis was a contrast for Batman’s gloomy Gotham. Perhaps we could see some of that in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Probably not, which means VideoLab will have to make a sequel.
