The medical examiner took the witness stand Thursday for the prosecution in the murder trial of former NFL star Aaron Hernandez.

The Associated Press noted that Dr. William Zane, who is expected to be the last witness called by the prosecution, took the stand and detailed the gunshot wounds that Odin Lloyd sustained.

Lloyd’s family members were not present in the courtroom when the graphic testimony was given.

Hernandez is accused of murdering the victim, a semi-professional football player who was dating his fiancée’s sister at the time of his death. Lloyd’s body was found near the athlete’s home.

He has plead not guilty to the killing.

The outcome of this trial is not the end of the 25-year-old’s legal troubles. As previously reported, Hernandez will stand trial later this year for the double murder of two men outside a Boston nightclub. He is accused of shooting the men after an altercation inside the club.

He has plead not guilty to those murder charges as well.
