Meghan Trainor is standing up against the critics who accused her of being “sexist!”

Trainor, spoke to MTV News at her FULLBEAUTY Brands event about the negative criticism she received for her newest music video, “Dear Future Husband.” On March 16th, the pop-singer released the music video where she is seen cooking in the kitchen and scrubbing the tiled floors while wearing an apron.

According to Us Weekly, critics were accusing Trainor of suggesting the idea that women were made to become house wives who cook and clean while their husbands are at work all day.

“Just surprised the random places people are asking me if I was being sexist,” Trainor told MTV News. The “All About That Bass” singer admitted she didn’t believe she was sending a sexist message out in her video, and that it was just a song written for her “future husband.” She added, “He’s chilling right now, taking a minute getting ready for me; it’s going to be great.”

The 21-year-old pop singer skyrocketed to fame last year after her hit single “All About That Bass” became an anthem for women all ages to accept and love their bodies they way they are.

Trainor certainly isn’t letting the negative critics get to her when it comes to her music. Even though she is currently overseas on That Bass Tour, she is already focused on future collaborations saying that people have reached out to her to work on her new album when she returns.
