Monica Lewinsky, who has been getting back into the public spotlight lately with an anti-bullying campaign, is reportedly being considered as a potential co-host on ABC’s The View.
Lewinsky has been invited to the show as a guest, so that lead Deadline to speculating that she will also be considered to join the show. There’s also a report from The Daily Mail, which claims that Barbara Walters thinks Lewinsky would be a “runaway success” on the struggling daytime talker. In addition, a source told TheWrap that she would be welcome to join the show.
“Monica was invited to be a guest on The View a couple weeks ago to talk about her anti-bullying campaign right after her Ted Talk,” a spokesperson told TheWrap. “We’d love to have Monica on the show.”
Lewinsky had tried her best to stay out of the public eye for over a decade, but she appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair in May 2014. She wrote a new essay about her affair with President Bill Clinton and the bullying she received afterwards. That piece acted as a launchpad for her new anti-bullying campaign, which recently continued with a Ted Talk in March. Of course, she also does have a history with The View creator Barbara Walters, since Walters famously interviewed her at the height of the Clinton scandal.
The View could use a buzzy hire, as the show is about to lose Rosie O’Donnell once again.
