This morning, we got a nice treat while we wait for Avengers: Age of Ultron to hit theaters. Marvel’s darkest television and movie project yet, Daredevil, launched on Netflix.
The series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who decides to be a vigilante at night, using his remaining heightened senses. Vincent D’Onofrio co-stars as the villain Kingpin and Deborah Ann Woll stars as Karen Page. Other members of the cast include Rosario Dawson, Elden Henson, Ayelet Zurer and Bob Gunton.
Netflix, Disney and Marvel signed a unique deal in November 2013, with Marvel agreeing to create four shows that will star lesser-known characters in the Marvel universe. They will then lead up to a miniseires even called The Defenders. A.K.A. Jessica Jones will be the next series, starring Krysten Ritter. Mike Colter will play Luke Cage, who will also have his own series. Iron First is also getting a series.
Just before the show debuted, Netflix shared the first image of the familiar red Daredevil costume on Twitter.
So far the show has been earning rave reviews. The Telegraph gave it 4/5 stars, while Slate’s writer went as far as calling it the best superhero series he’s ever seen.
