Former Baltimore Ravens great Ray Lewis and current New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony each spoke out against the violence that has plagued the city of Baltimore over the past 24 hours.

Bleacher Report noted that Lewis made a very passionate plea Tuesday for everyone to stop the violence and rioting in the streets. He explained that those acts are not in any way honoring Freddie Gray’s memory.

Baltimore native Anthony also took to social media and spoke out against the destruction in the city.

In a lengthy post, Anthony said that he was shocked to see his city in a state of emergency and asked that residents build Baltimore instead of tearing it down.

The recent rioting has had a domino effect on the sports world. As previously reported, the first two games of the series between the Orioles and Chicago White Sox have been postponed, while Wednesday's game will be closed to the public. Additionally, the weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays that was supposed to be played at Camden Yards will now take place at Tropicana field instead. Also, the Ravens announced that the team’s draft party scheduled for Thursday night at M&T Bank Stadium has been canceled.

I've got a message for the rioters in Baltimore. #BaltimoreRiots
